Company Overview:

 EMG subsidiary Edison Mission Operation & Maintenance, Inc. (EMOMI) operates eight natural gas power plants in partnership with other companies in California and a waste coal plant in West Virginia. EMOMI also operates a number of wind farms located in Iowa, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and Minnesota. Power from these facilities is sold under contracts to various utilities.

 

 



Job Responsibilities:

Support EMOMI's safety goal of maintaining an injury-free workplace by following safety procedures, observing safe working practices and maintaining a safe work environment

Ensure that plant activities are performed in compliance with governmental rules and regulations, company policies and procedures and accepted industry standards.

Monitor, review, understand and interpret regulatory requirements, including but not limited to FERC/NERC, DOT, PUC, and CEC.

Assess employee needs and develop and/or administer training programs to ensure employee skills meet EMOMI standards to operate and maintain the plant safely and efficiently while maintaining adherence to all regulatory requirements.

Supervise the review, development and implementation of directives, plant procedures, memorandums and informal letters in order to maintain operating and maintenance procedures consistent with optimum plant performance, government regulations and company policy.

Provide support to the Plant Manager in the preparation of periodic reports and charts relating to regulatory affairs, plant operation and maintenance, budgeting, and other related functions.

Participate in the development of the operation and maintenance budget. Monitor and control plant budget performance.

Effectively communicate with all internal and external customers.

Maintain a positive company image and constructive relationships with all internal and external customers.

Work effectively in a team environment as a leader, member and/or facilitator.

Perform other duties and assignments as required.



Qualifications:

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Thorough knowledge of existing local, state and federal regulatory requirements concentrating in the areas of Department of Transportation Operation and Maintenance of Natural Gas Pipelines and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) based North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Electric Reliability Standards.

Must have the ability to read and understand local, state and federal laws, ordinances and regulations (LORs) required, the ability to read and understand technical documents a benefit.

Must have the ability to conduct effective training classes regarding regulatory requirements.

Must have the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.

Must have the ability to manage time efficiently and remain available and flexible.

Must possess a valid driver's license.

 

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline. Consideration will be given to candidates with Associates degree in technical discipline with commensurate work experience. Minimum of two years work in a regulatory compliance specialist position in the electrical power or related energy industry..  Energy industry experience preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

Duties require extensive manual dexterity in usage of computer terminal and keyboard, while sitting for long periods of time while researching regulatory requirements and compiling reports or writing new or revising existing plant policy or procedures.

Required to prepare and conduct training.  When conducting training, the Specialist may be required to carry training materials, and to stand for extended periods of time.

Required to travel by airline and/or other means of transportation to attend meetings and seminars.

May be required to work extended periods of time outside normal business hours.
