Edison Mission Marketing & Trading (EMMT), based in Boston, Massachusetts, conducts price risk management and energy trading activities for its parent organization, Edison Mission Energy (EME), based in Irvine, California.  EME is an independent power producer engaged in the business of owning, leasing, operating and selling energy and capacity from electric power generation facilities.



Job Responsibilities:
  • Manages business process improvement and technology improvement initiatives for assigned business areas.  Manage project delivery through strong adherence to project governance methodologies.
  • Represents one or more business areas in the IT Demand Management.  Must develop a deep understanding of business objectives to be effective in this area.
  • Partner with development resources (internal or consultants) to define, develop, test and deliver quality work products.
  • Represents one or more business areas in the IT Demand Management.  Must develop a deep understanding of business objectives to be effective in this area.
  • Leads and conducts analysis and research of new technologies / processes and recommends appropriate alternatives in support of the organization’s strategic direction or resolution of business issues.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves end-user work system problems.  Must be willing to apply both tactical and strategic principles to resolution process.  Goal is to “Fix It Once, Fix It Right”.
  • Delivers value through on-going end-user support (Documentation, creation and presentation of training materials, etc.)
  • Demonstrates strong commitment to Continuous Improvement in the areas of process and technology.  Leverages EMG tools and technologies to their fullest extend to maximize value to the business.


Qualifications:

Required:

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Computer Sciences or related field.  . 

7 to 10 years experience in Energy, Commodities, Finance, Risk Management, or related field. 

Minimum 2 years of demonstrated experience managing IT projects.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of some/all of the following or similar applications preferred

Openlink’s Endur - Trading and Risk Management Application

Ventyx – product suite consisting of various applications – nMarket, Offer Mgr, Portfolio Mgr, Velocity Suite

Data Acquisition – Logical Information Machines (LIM), and other 3rd party data provider solutions

Data Integration, Data Warehousing and Reporting – Informatica ETL, Oracle, Business Objects

Database Query Tools – Transact SQL, PL SQL

Project Governance Tools – HP, Remedy, Sharepoint, Microsoft Project

 

  • Strong  Project Management skills.  Professional certifications are preferred, not required.  The candidate must be familiar with the basic processes of project management and be able to adhere and enforce these processes.
  • Identify requirements, define scope, perform cost benefit analysis and develop conceptual specifications to address complex business issues and problems.
  • Strong skills in financial and/or risk management concepts
  • Must have excellent presentation and interpersonal skills. Must express a confident command of subject matter and have the ability to communicate with diverse set of stakeholders. 
  • Build strong relationships with business and technical partners.  Must have strong communications and listening skills.
  • Cognitive and analytical skills; ability  to correlate interdependencies between business processes and applications, straight-through-processing
  • The ability to facilitate discussion and translate into business requirements
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to be results driven
